Service
IV sedation
Moderate sedation given through a small line in your arm, for longer visits, stronger dental fear or several treatments at once.
You are drowsy and respond when spoken to or touched. Because the medicine goes straight into your bloodstream, Dr. Faison can raise or lower it minute by minute.
How we do it
Given by Dr. Faison, never by the treating dentist
Provided in your own dentist's office
Watched throughout by an anesthesia team

What happens
The visit, in order
- 01
Step 1: Your history is reviewed
A call with Dr. Faison or a nurse, and fasting instructions in writing.
- 02
Step 2: You arrive and we prepare
We check your vital signs and place the line before the medicine. You can ask us to explain each step.
- 03
Step 3: Treatment
Dr. Faison gives the sedation and watches your heart, breathing, oxygen level and blood pressure while your dentist works.
- 04
Step 4: Recovery
The line comes out before you leave. A nurse stays until you are steady, and your escort takes you home.
- 05
Step 5: The next day
We call you to check how you are.
The details
Comfort, choices, risks and fees
Comfort
You can ask for a blanket or headphones, and tell us what has helped before. Your dentist still numbs the area.
Alternatives, and waiting
Oral sedation or a visit with no sedation are possible for some patients. Delaying treatment can mean more work later, and for some patients that is a reason to choose sedation.
Risks and aftercare
Possible effects are grogginess, nausea, a sore spot where the line was and, rarely, trouble with breathing or blood pressure. We monitor you throughout and carry emergency equipment. Rest at home with your escort for the day.
How it is billed
Our fee is estimated in writing before the day. Plan coverage for sedation varies; we check it for you and tell you what your plan said.
How fees work
